Alex “Big Lip” Chisholm has been a household name in South Florida radio for the past 14 years. The Philadelphia native, born Alex Chisholm, got his start in radio in 1992 at the tender age of 17 as a mixer at WUSL Power 99. Big Lip continued to work at Power 99 while he attended Cheyney University in Pennsylvania where he was an honor student, class president, member of the Football team and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.
After Graduating with honors in 1997, Big Lip hung up his turntables to pursue his dreams of being an announcer and Comedian. He did stand up comedy while working at WTMG in Gainesville (Florida), Hot 1039 in Columbia (South Carolina), and 102 Jamz in Greensboro (North Carolina) before landing the night time slot at WEDR 99 Jamz-Miami in 2000.
In July of 2004, WEDR replaced their struggling morning show that had slipped to 4th place with “The Big Lip Morning Show.” As with the night show, he experienced instant success in the AM. The morning show went to #1 in the very first ratings period. He consistently held the #1 position through his entire morning show tenure.
After 8 years of having the #1 morning show, Big Lip transitioned from WEDR 99 Jamz and took his talents to WPOW Power 96. Initially working as a part-time announcer, he continued with his infamous on-air comedic antics for two years until he was added to the “DJ LAZ Morning Show” in October 2011. The addition of Big Lip to the morning show once again incited instant chemistry and success.
After DJ Laz departure , Big Lip teamed up with JP and Lucy Lopez and the Power 96 morning show was born. Listeners are constantly glued to the radio waiting to hear his comedic outbursts that will have them laughing throughout the day. Big Lip has constantly proven to be the morning “Joe” that gets your day started.
In November 2016, Big Lip exited the Power96 morning show and in the Summer Of 2017 he joined Sun Broadcasting for the Launch of Fly 98.5 in Ft Myers Florida. Once Again " The BIG LIP MORNING SHOW" is reborn.
Throughout his success, he has continued to give back to the community with a host of non-profit organizations. He is a sheer asset to the South Florida community at-large.
