Washington, DC, bus crash: 1 dead, 7 hurt after car, Metrobus collide, officials say

WASHINGTON — One person has died and seven people are recovering from injuries after a car and a Metrobus collided overnight in Washington, D.C., authorities said.

According to WUSA and WJLA, the head-on collision occurred about midnight near Minnesota Avenue Northeast and Benning Road Northeast. The car’s driver, a man, died at the scene, Metropolitan police told WUSA. Seven people aboard the bus also were hurt but are expected to recover, police said.

Metropolitan police continue to investigate the case, the news outlets reported.
