The Montgomery County Police Department said in a news release that officers were called to a report of a shooting on Oct. 1 and found a man bleeding from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Police said that the suspect, identified as Marcus Conway, was restrained by multiple witnesses at the scene.

A video shared by police and recorded by a witness at the scene shows a man on the ground with a second man, in black, pointing a gun at him. At that moment, a third person jumps into the frame, kicking the man in black in the head.

Police told WJLA the video started moments after the suspect shot the victim in the leg and chest. Investigators said Conway tried to shoot the victim in the head, but the gun jammed.

Police said they recovered a handgun at the scene that a bystander said they had taken away from Conway. Investigators said in the news release that when they inspected the gun, they found an additional live round in the chamber.

Court records obtained by WJLA indicate Conway has an extensive criminal history, including convictions for illegal gun possession, assault and carjacking.

The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition and suffered a collapsed lung, WJLA reported.

Conway was charged with attempted second-degree murder, assault, and gun charges and was taken to jail without bond, police said.
