ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. — Basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal has worked as an auxiliary deputy for Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.

But this week he jumped into action when a woman became stranded along a road in Alachua County.

The county sheriff’s department said Shaq saw a crash along Interstate 75. He went to check on the driver and waited with her until law enforcement was able to respond.

The woman apparently had a blown tire that made her pull over, The Associated Press reported.

O’Neal has been given the designation as either a reserve police officer or honorary deputy in Miami Beach, Doral, Gold Beach, Port of Los Angeles, Tempe, Arizona, and Clayton County, Georgia, The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

This isn’t the first time O’Neal helped at a car accident. In November 2018, O’Neal comforted children at the scene as deputies responded to a crash, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
