The daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), said actor Christian Bale “screwed it up” when portraying her father in the hit movie “Vice.”
Bale, who won a best actor Golden Globe Award on Sunday for his portrayal in the film, said in his acceptance speech that he channeled Satan to play the role. “Thank you, Satan, for giving me inspiration on how to play” Cheney, Bale declared at the show.
“I would just say that Christian Bale finally had the chance to play a real superhero, and he clearly screwed it up,” Liz Cheney said Wednesday morning on “Fox and Friends.”
Cheney said she has not seen the film about her father’s rise to power in Washington as George W. Bush’s vice president, but she said she is very fond of her dad.
“I’m obviously incredibly proud of my dad, very proud and honored to be his daughter,” she said.
Cheney also took a few shots on social media at Bale, who has played Batman three times in a trio of movies, about 2008 assault allegations.
“Satan probably inspired him to do this, too,” Cheney posted on Twitter.
No charges were ever filed in the case.
