Band members joining Ms. Osborne are Keith Cotton (keys), Wendell Holmes (piano, guitar, vocals), Sherman Holmes (bass, vocals) and Popsy Dixon (drums, vocals). . Show times at 7:30p and 9:30 Thursday through Saturday, with an additional 7:30 show on Sunday. Doors at 5:30 each night. "I knew when the time was right and my voice was ready, I wanted to make a recording like this one," says Joan Osborne. That recording is Bring It on Home (2012), a collection of vintage blues, R&B and soul songs that make up the seventh album from the Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum artist. It's an apt title-for Osborne, Home marks a return to her musical roots. "I cut my teeth in New York blues clubs, singing songs like this," she remembers. Despite her long history with the music, it was only recently that the singer felt like she was ready to put some of those standards on record. "There's a texture and richness to these songs that singers don't have right away, that I didn't have when I started out," she says. "But the more I've done this, the more tone and depth I've developed. This was the time." Besides Bring It on Home and its accompanying spring tour, Osborne is keeping incredibly busy, working on her side project Trigger Hippy (featuring members of the Black Crowes) and finishing up an album of her own original music.Guest stars on the album include her touring companions, The Holmes Brothers. Says Osborne, "To hear those harmonies, that group of voices, it was such a pleasure. They were mentors to me. I've been fortunate to play with them live and produce some of their stuff…" Over the course of their 30-plus year career, The Holmes Brothers have been feeding souls with a joyous and moving blend of blues, gospel, soul, R&B, rock 'n' roll, and country. Their three-part harmony singing, mixing Wendell's gruff and gravelly vocals with Popsy's soaring falsetto and Sherman's rich baritone, brings the soul and spirit of gospel music into everything they perform. Equally gripping is the rhythmic foundation laid down by Sherman's bass playing and Popsy's drumming, perfectly complimenting Wendell's blues-soaked guitar solos and church-inspired piano playing. The band easily blends Saturday night's roadhouse rock with gospel fervor and harmonies. The Holmes Brothers have won multiple Blues Music Awards and performed with the likes of Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen, Keith Richards, Al Green, Ben Harper, Levon Helm, and Odetta. This is an advance sale/pre-pay show with reserved seating.
