The Project [theatre] Philanthro Party Ever wish it wasn't awkward to answer the question "What do you want for your birthday this year?" with: "Money. Just give me money." Well here at the Project [theatre] awkward is our middle name!!! Just kidding. But anyway...[Philanthro-party]! What is a "Philanthro-party", you say? A philanthro-party is a completely made up thing where it's your birthday party and also a fundraiser to benefit the Project [theatre]. Merriam-Webster said it was too specific to induct. Pfft! Join us on January 3rd at 8pm to celebrate our first year of life and accomplishments at PAX Miami on Calle Ocho, $5 tickets to the party of the century! Hosted by the one and only Constance Lingus who will be spitting some mad rib-ticklers and perhaps a toe-tapper or two, also featuring Live music, DJ, Live Art, CAKE (the food, not the band) and other birthday shenanigans! The Project [theatre] was founded by four young theater professionals eager to collaborate and to create an alternative theatre form. Established in 2009 as "The State Theatre Project", we committed to presenting socially relevant work that questioned the state of our community and enhanced our relationship with the world. Between January 2010 and January 2011, we produced 19 world-premiere short plays and a landmark full-length production. With triumphs and lessons learned from a very busy first season, we put producing on hold to reflect and refocus. A few months and one 4am phone call later, we set a course to redefine our purpose. You find us now as a consequence of this journey- reignited with a new mission, a new look, and a new name. The Project [theatre] aims to blur the line between spectator and spectacle while igniting a new generation's thirst for their live theater. We are dedicated to producing new, relevant works that will plug you in and immerse your senses all while providing an unforgettable night out worthy of your next status update. We aspire to create a community that fosters young artists and encourages social awareness. We pledge to remain affected by our environment and to always be evolving. 5.00
