Organization Jewish Museum of Florida Primary Category Films Extras Film, in conjunction with Miami Jewish Film Festival Leonard Nimoy narrates this modern story on the history of the Jews of Kaifeng. The last rabbi of Kaifeng died well over a century ago, and today's descendants of the ancient Chinese Jewish community have never celebrated Shabbat. Now two curious families have incited a modern group of Jewish travelers from Australia, China, Israel, and the United States into their homes, leading to a reunion 1,000 years in the making. FIU's Professor Nathan Katz, one of the world's leading authorities on Eastern Jewish communities, will lead a discussion on Jews of Kaifeng following the program.
