Brenna Munro, associate professor of English in the University of Miami's College of Arts and Sciences, will discuss her book, South Africa and the Dream of Love to Come: Queer Sexuality and the Struggle for Freedom. South Africa's constitution, adopted in 1996, was the first in the world to include gays and lesbians as full citizens. However, as the country's reentrance into the global economy has failed to bring prosperity to its citizens, homophobic violence has been on the rise. This event takes place on Wednesday, November 28 at 8 p.m. at Books & Books, 265 Aragon Avenue, Coral Gables. It is free and open to the public. For moreinformation, please visit www.humanities.miami.edu/calendar.
