Description:
This three-session course will explore the unique combination of realism, allegory, fantasy and humor in Bosch's paintings, and will situate these strange and fascinating works firmly within their historical context. We will concentrate on several of Bosch's major triptychs, including the Prado's famous "Garden of Earthly Delights", while also studying some of Bosch's lesser-known smaller panels of humorous moralizing subjects like "The Cure of Folly". There will be three sessions.
