Organization Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida Primary Category Concerts & Performances Extras Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida brings back the family favorite "Chipolino" - a beautiful ballet in two acts, choreographed by Ballet Master Vladimir Issaev to the music of Russian composer K. Katchaturian. This ballet is based on Gianni Rodari's tale about vegetables. It is the story of a naughty "green onion" character by the name of Chipolino who fights the unjust treatment of his fellow vegetable townfolk by the fruit royalty (Princess Lemon and overly proud Senorita Tomato) in the garden kingdom. Through music and dance, "Chipolino" not only tells the fanciful folk tale, but also expresses a much deeper political statement - the struggle of the underclass and the powerful, good versus evil, and the importance of friendship in the face of difficulties. "Chipolino" will capture the imaginations of both adults and children and the production is enhanced by the costumes designed by Jorge Gallardo and creative sets by Elena Bond.
